IK Osakioduwa,DO YOU REMENBER HIM?

#BigBbrotherAfrica Host

He’s an MC, a TV Host, but most importantly, he is a father to two Lovely children and husband to the beautiful Olohi.

The charming Ik Osakioduwa spoke to BusinessDay’s Kemi Ajumobi in the latest issue of ‘Off Duty Magazine' which was released on Friday last week.

On Growing up:

My father was in the army so we travelled a lot and changed schools often. One of the effects that had on us was that we grew used to being the new kids in school and making new friends. Also, meeting people from different walks of life teaches you to be very accommodating with cultural and social differences. Bottom-line, you learn to be flexible. In the entertainment industry, that’s a quality that can take you places.

On making a choice between Radio & TV:

Well, I love them both and love them differently. I love the fact that radio is very easy to jump into. I don’t need to dress up at all for it. I’ve actually gone to work in pyjamas on several occasions. You can’t really do that on TV. But having said that, I love the idea of standing on one platform and being live in people’s homes all across Africa. It’s an electrifying feeling. I honestly love both of them.

On his experience so far as ‘Big Brother Africa’ Anchor:

Oh wow! Big brother is still about the Biggest TV show on the continent. It is watched in almost every country on the continent and people absolutely love the show. To stand on that platform and tap into the show’s fan base for 6 years straight definitely helped me grow my brand beyond Nigeria into other African countries. Apart from that, the show is the best teacher you will ever have with dealing with live shows. It has a live studio audience, live viewers at home and you have to take real time instructions while you present the show. Not to mention the fact that you often have auto-cue to deal with, while all of this is going on. I learnt so much about production, presenting and handling pressure working on that show.

On his TV Show – ‘Highlites With Ik’

We started Highlites With Ik in October of 2014. It was a natural progression really to have my own show. I had worked on so many shows with Africa Magic that the channel thought the time had come to develop something around my personality. We deliberated on it for a while and I was tasked by the channel to develop a format for the show. And thus ‘Highlites With Ik’ was born. In the years to come, I plan to develop even more TV Shows that other people can host. Creating content is a passion of mine and I’m never going to stop doing it.

On how lucrative the ‘hustle’ has been:

Interesting question which totally depends on your appetite. In my case, I appreciate all that God has done for me. I know not every person my age enjoys all these things so I definitely feel privileged to have what I have. I am going to say the hustle has been VERY lucrative.

On his personal drive:

The bible says “In all labour there is profit”. I really believe this and I have seen that in my life, whenever I commit my time and effort to focus on something and work hard on it, I enjoy the favour and reward of God. Good things don’t just happen to people. It also takes some work on their part.

On creating time for family:

We are a party family. We all love to travel, watch movies together and play tricks on each other. My wife and son are great at that.

Well, that used to be Big Brother, Then it was Highlites With Ik and next it was The Voice Nigeria and next it will be… NAH!!! I’m not telling you. At least not until I have achieved it. I will tell you though, that, I plan to create and produce a few other shows that other presenters can host and become celebrated

Big Brother Naija,The Recap of Day 22

Everyday is interesting in the Big Brother Naija house, well though it did not end well for some of the house mates which saw them being nominated for possible eviction (Gifty, Marvis & ThinTallTony) were confirmed nominated,

Here is how Day 22 went down

The day started off with Biggie's special guest who turned out to be none other than Falz The Bahd Guy! The Housemates freaked out and swarmed him screaming after he walked in. After all the chaos had subsided he told the Housemates he was a huge fan of the show before blowing TBoss a kiss as she blushed. He then forced the Housemates to confess their crushes. New Housemate Jon confessed that he had feelings for TBoss confirming Bisola's accusation that they were getting quite cosy and Miyonse is a thing of the past!

11:44 am
For the week's Head of House task the Housemates had to use only their right hand to unfurl a large roll of tissue paper. The goal was to find the hidden roll of blue tissue paper hidden underneath. The Housemates had to work quickly but there was no guarantee that the roll they got started on had the hidden blue roll underneath making it anyone's game.

Right off the bat Bally got knocked out of the running. It would seem he didn't pay close attention to the rules and used two hands to unroll the tissue paper. Biggie's voice boomed through the speakers telling him to step away as he'd been disqualified. Looking sullen and disappointed in himself, all Bally could do was watch on as the the rest of the Housemates tugged at the tissue rolls frantically.

The task proved to be a really brutal arm workout and the Housemates were sweating by the end! ThinTallTony finished first but found no blue roll. Instead it was Ese who came out victorious. She collected her crown and sceptre as Biggie congratulated her and told her to rule with pride!

15:43 pm
Biggie asked housemates to band into three groups before tasking them with creating musical instruments out of homemade, make-shift instruments.
ThinTallTony immediately came up with a brilliant idea have all the musicians in the House lead the different groups to make sure they nailed the task, with guys disguised as girls and girls as guys, it was one curious scene taking place in the lounge as as the Housemates sorted through the containers, bins and pins to meet their goals.

Biggie had warned them against a possible punishment should they fail the task, and thus Housemates fully immersed into the feat of making something out of nothing!

16:00
Following Debie-Rise' suggestion that they need to make afternoons more interesting instead of sleeping, the Housemates decided to dress up as each other with truly hysterical results. First to get dressed was Kemen who strutted around the room checking his butt out in the mirror and looking stunned by how good he looked in a dress. "I dey hips!" he exclaimed laughing.

Bassey slipped into his ensemble and put on a wig before showing off his new look. TBoss immediately joked that he looked "so ugly!" while everyone laughed hysterically. Enter Uriel to the rescue. She worked her contouring magic to make Bassey as pretty as can be.

Head of House Ese went all in and even used fake lashes to make sure Bally's make up was flawless then finished off the look with a black gown and a flower crown. Even fake Housemate Jon got in on the fun and people on social seemed to think he made the prettiest girl.

ThinTallTony and Efe got into character with the former playing a sex worker and the latter a market lady. TTT absolutely demanded that people refer to him as a LADY .Then the Housemates started making fun of Efe who immediately shut them down yelling "I don't care what you say! My market dey sell!"
It wasn't all about the boys though. The girls got in on the action, dressing up in bowties and waistcoats and looking like distinguished gentlemen. They then finished off their look by using tonnes of polish to mimic a full beard.

21:55
Perhaps it was the shock of losing their main squeezes Soma and Miyonse on the same night but Gifty and TBoss have become close friends. Nowhere was this more evident than last night when TBoss leapt out of her seat in tears as Gifty's name was called out during the Eviction Show. They shared a deep embrace and she seemed a lot more upset about Gifty leaving than everyone else.

This morning they both shared a heart to heart where TBoss confessed that she thinks there are a lot of cliques in the House which is why she not only struggles to fit in but is also in danger of being Nominated. She said she's not into cliques, but is trying to be friends with everyone.

All this camaraderie seemed to be built on false pretence as their mutual attraction to new Housemate Jon prompted TBoss to share some open secrets with Jon, albeit in Gifty's presense.

By the end of the  Live Nominations Show, a sombre mood fell over the House as Biggie had told them the names of the Housemates up for possible Evictions. The Housemates pooled into different mini cliques as they all tried to come to terms with the fact that by the end of the week, another familiar face would be Evicted from the House.

Gifty seemed the most hard hit of the three Nominated Housemates as she wrapped herself up in a blanket and curled up on the couch, and she subsequently told Uriel and TBoss a sad story about her growing up years.

ThinTallTony seemed unaffected as he went about his business in his same old fashion.

Marvis, who HoH Ese had put up for possible Eviction in place of the initial Nominated Housemate TBoss, went straight to bed.
But after the Diary sessions, and the subsequent announcement by Biggie about the store room being opened, the sight of the shopping bags bearing all the food stuff they had ordered seemed to throw some life and animation back into the Housemates as they all converged in the kitchen for some late night chow.
A new day dawns, and the clock which was reset at the last Evictions Show has started ticking again, and only a matter of time before another Housemate is Evicted.
